Seriously, my last post...this year!

One last attempt...

to try and get a Christmas picture

Someone just shoot me!

Thank you Becka! But really you shouldn't have. Just send the box next time. The chocolate spoons were a terrific hit but they fought over the box it came in. And the newspaper that you added for stuffing had a picture of a princess bed, coats they just recieved for Christmas and a Diego toy..... so guess what? Another fight over who got to look at the K-mart advertisements!! Except I got the coats 50% off - your's were only advertised at 30% off. Check with me next time you buy at Kmart, I might be able to get it for ya cheaper!

And this is what I am doing all day... each batch takes an hour in the oven so 5 batches later and I'm on my way to the all nighter at the church.

The youth is having a dance tonight and at midnight the Bishopric is making breakfast....

Mmm the only thing I can think of that I would want to eat at midnight would be pizza and a gallon of pop.

Then on New Years Day... I am doing daycare. I had enough parents needing to work that I am open. Yay! I don't mind. It will be easy peasy and we will watch video's and eat junk food all day.

See you next year!

Hold on by Michael McLean

Hold on, the Light Will Come - Michael McLean

Hold on the light will come
Michael McLean

The message of this moment is so clear
And as certain as the rising of the sun
If your world is filled with darkness, doubt and fear
Just hold on, hold on, the light will come

Everyone who's ever tried and failed
Stands much taller when the victory's won
And those who've been in darkness for a while
Kneel much longer when the light has come.

It's a message every one of us must learn
That the answers never come without a fight
And when it seems you've struggled far too long
Just hold on, hold on, there will be light

Hold on. Hold on. the light will come.
If you feel trapped inside a never-ending night
If you've forgotten how it feels to feel the light
If you're half-crazy thinking you're the only one
who's afraid the light will never reall come -
Just hold on. Hold on. The light will come!

The message of this moment is so clear
And as certain as the rising of the sun
If your world is filled with darkness, doubt and fear
Just hold on, hold on, the light will come.

Tag: 5 things I love

Okay Becka! I will do this but you know paybacks are always better!

5 things I love

1. I love music.
I love the eighties. I love Michael Mclean, Celine Dion, Enya, Christmas music, Church hymns. I love to play the piano and one day I will learn to read music. I love my Grandpa and his intruments. I love singing to my children. I love to hum to my baby when I rock her to sleep. I love to hear others sing and play. I love to fall asleep to music. My favorite song right now is Michael McLeans's Hold on.

2. I love being lazy
Warm blanket. Toasty fire. Girl flicks. Good books. Sunbathing.
Long slow walks on the beach. Casual bike riding. Long Sunday drives. Blogging. Sitting in the hot tub....

3. I love making out.
Kissing. Cuddling. Holding hands. Backrubs. Winking. Arm around the shoulder. The "good game" spanking. A little ear nibbling. The "look" from across the room.

4. I love hosting parties/dinners/meetings.
I love to prepare my home and fix food and "play tea" and socialize with others. I also love going out for dinner...dressing up and relaxing and eating slowly - no kids involved - being served by someone else and eating food you didn't have to bake yourself...

5. I love being around other people.
Old people, young people, children and babies... I love to watch others. I like to observe. I like to smile at people and look into their eyes. I love to listen to the older people and their stories. I love watching someone else corral their children in church... it is a feeling of belonging and interacting and being part of something other than yourself. It's fun to step out of your own realm and try to see the world as others view it.

I tag you if you want to do this (I'm one of those people that don't like to leave anyone out or to pick on anyone) so just leave me a comment to let me know you are doing it and I will come and see it - I'd love to know about the things you love! Have fun with it!

Tradition!

It's way early in the morning. "Way" meaning I could still get 2 more hours of sleep.
But I am waiting for a parent to drop off their child..... (Jeapordy music playing)

OCTAMOM is up early too - but she is probably from a different time zone.
I am playing along with her today. She posted about taking the tree down and putting Christmas away. I really loved her post today! Very sentimental.

I have already taken the tree down and we are putting the little things away one thing at a time. We normally don't - we leave everything up until the neighbors tell us that it is February and that the current theme is Valentines and hearts and little candy. Roses from husbands...

But I was very hormonal this year and wanted everything organized and put away where it belongs -spick and span -smelling like clorox clean and looking like Martha Stewart lived here. I bet she still has her Christmas up though.

We are a young family and we are still making our traditions. I like to make cheeseballs with crackers for our neighbors and friends but I didn't do that this year. We have been extremely busy. We didn't even send our Christmas cards out. They are still sitting here.

But I think I will always get the kids a new pair of pajama's to wear to bed the night before....
the advent calendar,
cookies and milk for Santa.
Reading from the bible about baby Jesus and his birth.

I do want to start a new tradition....
I will hang mistletoe over the bedroom door of the Master bedroom and every night for the month of December after family prayer - Mom and Dad will kiss under the mistletoe and let the kids ooh and ahh (gag and complain that it is gross).
Showing affection so that our kids can see that Mom and Dad are in love. I think it is so important for our children to see that we care about each other -
and that, I think... is a great gift that we can give them. A sense of security.
I hope you have fun making your own traditions!

Play along....go here.

Happy New Year and other stuff...

I'd like to share two links this morning.
The first is SOUNDS OF SUNDAY.
It is Latter Day Saints Christian music
played on KLCE CLASSY 97.

A lot of my favorite music is played (Michael McLean, Morman Tabernacle Choir) along with Glenn Rawson stories of inspiration. If you haven't heard it...try it. You'll like it! Some great music!! I'm listening to it right now!

Also, the second link, http://artpad.art.com
I painted a picture just for you!
My kids love it.
Copy and paste this link in your browser.
http://artpad.art.com/?kclcqyvctqc
You paint a picture and then press play.
It will repaint your picture for you just the way
you did it. I'm an adult and I played on it
for 2 hours yesterday!
May be addicting....

I'm not doing any new resolutions this year.
But I am going to continue on what I'm already working on.

This year we are focusing on our food storage and
emergency supplies. First thing on this list....
A generator for when the power is out.
What are some items on your list?

My kids would like it if the pantry was full of mac-n-cheese(KRAFT ONLY)
and hot dogs. I'm wondering how dehydrated hot dogs are going to taste?
Jerky anyone?

Tonight I am sending a little prayer out to
those who are grieving the loss of loved ones
this season and to those who are in the hospital
facing the uncertain and to those of you who are
mourning past losses. It seems that everywhere
I turn today there has been tears and saddness,
joy and gratitude. Many of you have asked for
the prayers. May you be comforted through
your faith and your beliefs. It's hard, but just
hold on...
Did not go to Idaho. Roads closed everywhere.
Bahumbug. (Sigh)

I am updating my blog by visiting everyone who followed my old blogs and finally adding them to my new blog.

Yep! Checking up on everyone....Watch out! You might be next!
Merry Christmas everyone!
It is 9 am.
I am packing bags to go to Idaho.
It will be a surprise attack!
Will post again in a few weeks.
Much love Jessica

Thank you Mother Letter Project for the letters.
They are beautiful.

To tell or not to

I did not have an emotional breakdown this week
and eat all the chocolate in the house.

My daughter did not leave carrots out to get eaten by imaginary rabbits overnight.

My son does not keep asking all day long if it is a school day and I finally told him he was never going to school ever again if he kept asking.

I did not cry all morning long after receiving a Christmas Card in the mail.

I did not post two hormonal posts this week.

I did not leave all the dishes undone and the laundry piled high before going to bed.

I did not cry when my daughter said she dreamed about Jesus having a broken body and that her father picked him up and carried him. (Shouldn't we all carry Jesus?)

I did not cry when my mother said she did not like my blog. Nope not me.

I didn't mail my Christmas cards because I haven't captured the perfect picture of the kids yet... and may not mail them until next year! Pff, I wouldn't do that!

And I am defiantly not letting my kids sneak up stairs with the ice cream and 3 spoons
knowing that they will make a big mess but I am willing to sacrifice it for some blogging time.

Nope! NOT ME!

Play along with Tanya over at On that note!

I love Christmas the great finale.

I wish that I could say I have been taking a blog break - but no, it is my body that has taken the break...

I was visited by the "flu-bug" aka "that time of month" and it will not go away!

I tried to sneak up behind it and scare it... I bribed it... I offered it money to go away and it refuses!

When I get it bad, I get it bad.

So I have been forced into hibernation and no matter how hard I try to be nice - nothing. Nothing at all. Just meanness in it's purest form.

I have fed it chocolate. I have drowned it in Dr. Pepper. Hot bathes have only tempered it and it laughs in the face of medicine.

It's only 4 days until Christmas. There are all the last minute things that need to be done.... I don't even have my Christmas packages or Christmas cards sent out!

We went to my husbands company party - and I pulled it off. I smiled. I laughed. I was gracious and kind. But inside of me was being utterly miserable and nagging me. I was so exhausted by the time we got home. Even the virgin pina colada did not help.

So excuse me while I stop blogging. I will see you next year. If by chance I am not here... my funeral arraignments will be announced by my husband. And I want a pink coffin. PINK! And blushing pink roses to go on top. God made me a girl so I want to go out all girly. It would please me if everyone wore pink. Even the guys. Pink polo shirts with khaki pants. And little sugar cookies with pink sprinkles - the kind that you see in a Martha Stewart Magazine......

So here ya go... my Christmas card to all of you.

Hey all of you,

It's been a very stressful year. What with the move and having a baby and losing half our daycare during the move - and the stress that wrecked havoc on our marriage and our children starting public school and not being able to go to any of their functions because I'm stuck at home. The in- laws now pick up the phone and say What do you need instead of Hello dear how are you.... the basement flooding when it rained 9 inches in April - 4 weeks after we moved in...

Just kidding. That's the pms talking... here is the nice version:

Darrel and I would like to express our love for you -
our family, our friends...

We've had a very successful, eventful year.

We purchased a house and made it into a home.
We moved in and had a baby girl 2 weeks later.
We let go of Jon(5yrs) as he entered into the public school system.
Sarah(4yrs) started a state run pre-school program and rides the bus!
Alta(3yrs) has come out of her quiet shell and turned into a tomboy.
And Baby Valorie(9 mths) is just a sweet little butter ball that gets more than her fair share of hugs and kisses.

The daycare bounced back after the move and has quieted down into a regular routine. Whew!

Darrel returned to work for our former Bishop for the gas and oil industry...
He has enjoyed hunting and playing with his four-wheeler. We've done a lot of settling down this year and getting situated.

We really do look forward to the new year and watching our children grow.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and look forward to growing one year older with you! Our best wishes for you.

Love Darrel and Jessica
Jon, Sarah, Alta, and Baby Valorie.

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year!

I love Christmas part seventeen

The Morman Tabernacle Choir/ A Nativity Play
This is so cute - a nativity play done by children with the choir singing in the background. Just two minutes!

She's here!

Baby Karli Beth was born this morning at 3 am.
Keep a prayer in your heart for her birth mother
who has given such a precious gift at this time of year

When the joy felt and expressed
through giving this gift
Her arms are empty but may her heart be full.

May the miracle of this season give wings to many more miracles...

I love Christmas part fifteen

Tonight is the Big Night
Santa will be in town
The excited children will
climb on his lap and whisper
what they want for Christmas

But I won't be there.
The "flu bug" has hit
and I can hardly wiggle.
So in my place....
My husband.
He hates doing "Santa"
Or so he says...
But he is doing it for me.
I love that Man.

You should have seen him
trying on the suit
Twirling around in front of the mirror
mocking me...
Does this make my butt look big?

He looks so much better in it than I do -
After all he is a man.
A very tall strong built man
with a teddy bear stomach.
All mine.

Yes.
I love Christmas
And I love Santa

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!

I love Christmas part fourteen

When I first heard this song I thought it would be a song about adoption or how a girl messes up her life... but this song is special. It's a Christmas song. It's amazing. A baby changes everything...

I love Christmas part thirteen

Every year the Island of Nantucket celebrates Nantucket Stroll
The sidewalks are lined with decorated trees
Carolers and Bell Ringers...
Santa comes by boat and visits the children
Christmas festivities are all around
